About Mary Toscano

MARY TOSCANO is a passionate teacher who believes that people can be empowered to heal themselves through knowledge.

Mary’s early background was as an engineer, having graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Computer Systems Engineering. She then embarked on a twenty-year career in the hi-tech industry, holding engineering, marketing, and management positions.

Mary is now pursuing her true calling as a teacher of healthy living. She received her Nutrition Educator certification from Bauman College: Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts. Mary is also a Certified Massage Therapist, having studied at Twin Lakes College of the Healing Arts and at Esalen Institute. She brings to her work conviction, enthusiasm, and a highly inquisitive and disciplined mind. These gifts allow her to express complex information in a clear, simple, and practical way.

Mary founded the company Mary Toscano Healthy Living with the mission to bring tools and knowledge that support a healthy lifestyle to as many people as possible.

After 12 years teaching about blood sugar management (and 4 years of writing her book, Sweet Fire: Sugar, Diabetes & Your Health), Mary discovered she was prediabetic – not because of her diet, but because of a genetic predisposition. This new information further fueled the urgency of her message, as it took on an even more personal significance.

In her world-renowned educational DVD, Sweet Fire: Understanding Sugar's Role in Your Health, she shares her expertise in using nutrition for blood sugar control. In the sequel to Sweet Fire, Fabulous Fats! Setting the Record Straight, she explains the benefits of eating good fats and avoiding trans fats in a healthy diet.
